Windows 11 · native · Beta

Agents that stay on your PC.

Osaurus is a local-first harness for AI agents. Open models run on your machine. Memory, files, and tools stay with them. A cloud model is used only when you point an agent at one.

  • Version 0.1.0-beta
  • Offline after setup
  • No account
  • x64 and ARM64

01 — Product

A harness, not another chat window.

Models are easy to swap. What compounds is the layer around them: the agent, what it remembers, and the tools it is allowed to use. Osaurus keeps that layer on the PC.

The Windows app is a native program for Windows 11 on x64 and ARM64. Dark interface, high-DPI layout, no browser shell. It is free to use. There is no subscription and no account. Cloud credits, if you use them, apply only to cloud models.

Source, docs, and installers are linked from this page. Those addresses are sample values until you replace them in js/config.js.

02 — Agents

Work that continues while you step away.

Give an agent a folder and a job. It reads, searches, and runs tools, then shows the steps. Nothing on the PC changes until you allow it.

  1. 01

Models that run on the PC

Open models download once and then run offline on a local GPU. NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel cards with 12 GB of VRAM or more.

  2. 02

    Private by design

No account and no telemetry. Local models never need the network after the download. Cloud traffic leaves only from the agents you point at a provider.

  3. 03

    Files, tools, and a yes

Agents read files, run commands, and search the web, then show their work. Review a change and allow it once, or always.

  4. 04

    Frontier models on your terms

Bring your own key for OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, xAI, or OpenRouter. Switch the model without dropping the agent’s memory or skills.

  5. 05

    Yours to keep

No usage cap on the app itself. Optional cloud credits are only for cloud models, and only when you choose them.

03 — How a session starts

Three moves, then the agent works.

Step 01

Pick the model

Choose an open model that fits the GPU, or connect a cloud provider with your own key.

Step 02

Point at a folder

The agent can read and search that folder. Writes and commands wait for approval.

Step 03

Leave it running

It keeps the task list, uses tools, and closes with a summary you can check.

05 — Requirements

Windows 11. A GPU only if the model stays local.

Any Windows 11 PC can use cloud models. On-device open models need a 12 GB GPU.

Requirement Cloud, or your own API keys Open models on device
Windows Windows 11, x64 or ARM64 Windows 11, x64 or ARM64
GPU Not needed 12 GB of VRAM or more (NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel)
System RAM Any 16 GB; 32 GB recommended for larger models
Disk Minimal About 20 GB free for model files
Internet Needed for the provider Needed once, to download the model

No 12 GB GPU? Use a cloud model and keep the agents, memory, and tools on the machine. Most ARM64 laptops, including Snapdragon X, fall in this group.

06 — Questions

Before you install.

Is Osaurus for Windows free?

Yes. No subscription and no usage cap on the app. Cloud credits are optional and apply only to cloud models.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no account. Local use does not ask you to sign in.

Does it run on Windows 10?

No. Osaurus for Windows needs Windows 11 on x64 or ARM64.

Do I need a GPU?

Only for open models on the device, which need at least 12 GB of VRAM. Without that, use a cloud model with your own key.

Which models can I use?

Open models on the PC, plus OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, xAI, OpenRouter, and others through your own keys.

How is this different from the Mac app?

Same idea: agents, memory, tools, and your choice of model. This Windows build does not include every macOS feature yet.

Where is the source?

The app source is online. The link on this page is a sample until you set the source URL in js/config.js. Docs, release notes, community, privacy, and license use the same file.
